A Mother's Practical Resolution
I always have long hair. My mum told me that I wasn't even born when my hair appeared inside of her belly and maybe it was the reason she had reflux during
her pregnancy, but seriously, is that possible?. Well, I think was her constant craving for chocolates and ice
cream.
Three months ago, I decided to make a change, and I started
from the top, my hair. When I decided to chop it up, I called my hairdresser,
and we had a small talk about it, and she said: “it is fine Betsi, as long as
you want it , no problem”. "Let’s book it in", I said.
After that call, I really started to have real nightmares about cutting my hair. One night, I dreamt that my whole hair was gone and only had a tiny small fringe in front of my forehead. Awful!! I felt anxious about going to my hairdresser and take the risk to do it. Any kind of doubts came up to my head; I got headaches and felt butterflies started to flying inside of my belly. I panicked and almost cancelled my appointment.
Anyway, as you can see. I did it and feel great with a very
positive way to see the world now, crazy but true. I found my life more
practical and had the sensation of freedom in my head. I only spend 5 minutes or
less doing my hair in the mornings and only 10 or less blowing it off. It is
fabulous.
But one day, someone said something that crush my heart
deeply and I couldn't believe this is happening. After receiving good
compliments, I realised that a haircut represents “A Mother’s Practical
Resolution”. Oh my Gosh! I feel devastated, for the first time. Not
because of the fact that other women gave their opinion about my haircut. This
is just what other people see and say. “You did it because you are Mum, right?,
when I become a Mum I would do the same, I guess”, she said.
Certainly I didn't like it, I never thought cutting
my hair because “I am a Mother”. Yes, it is super practical when you are having a
very busy life like mine as a Mum. I love my child and do whatever it takes to make her safe
and happy. But, I just want to make people understand the difference between
being a Mum and a being a normal regular person.
As a Mum, my life is going so
fast that I don’t realise that it is 7 o'clock in the evening and my work at
home hasn't even started yet. My daughter is still watching Wiggles, and she hasn't had
her dinner yet and I am doing other stuff, which I can’t remember right now. On the other hand, as a normal regular person, I work full time, love
having lunch with friends, going out for dinner and see a movie, reading, and writing and when I got some time
“off” I sit and playing around with my notes.
I really don’t like judging other people’s choices and
especially when it is about other women. But, think about mothers’ practical
resolution is to sacrifice their lives; it is out of my mind, and after having
my child, I believe I have done more things that I would think in the past.
My theory for all these is; follow your instincts as I did, and be yourself. It doesn't matter if you are a parent or not, what is important
is what you have inside and how you feel.
For me, I didn't have any mother’s practical resolutions; it is just a matter of self-esteem and feels good.

I am PALEO!!
The Paleo diet has completely changed the way I am now
seeing in food and the habit of eating them. This is now part of my life and my
family love it.
This is the story of all cavemen 2 million years ago and
some people now. This is real.
So, what is Paleo diet?
The Paleo diet is also well-known as the Caveman Diet or the
Palaeolithic lifestyle. Its founder, Dr Loran Cordain is a scientist and
researcher from the University of Colorado. He introduced the concept of the Paleo Diet in the 90’s. Dr Cordain found that
eating like a caveman from 2 million years ago (Stone Age), is the best way to
keep our body healthy and out of chemicals from processed food, and sugar and
fat saturated.
The Paleo diet is based upon everyday group of food from our
pre-agricultural, hunter-gatherer ancestors. It means that all the food before
the era of the agriculture and industry are allowed in the Paleo diet with some
exceptions. There are 7 main principles of this diets that will help to
optimize your health, minimize your risk of chronic disease, and lose weight.
But today, I will mention only 3 of them.
"Higher protein intake
–Meat, seafood, and other animal products represent the staple foods of modern
day Paleo diets.
Lower carbohydrate
intake and lower glycemic index – Non-starchy fresh fruits and vegetables
represent the main carbohydrate source and will provide for 35-45 % of your daily
calories. Almost all of these foods have low glycemic indices that are slowly
digested and absorbed, and won’t spike blood sugar levels.
Higher fibre intake – Dietary fibre is essential for good health, and despite what we’re told,
whole grains aren't the place to find it. Non-starchy vegetables contain eight
times more fibre than whole grains and 31 times more than refined grains. Even
fruits contain twice as much fibre as whole grains and seven times more than
refined grains". (Source: http://thepaleodiet.com/the-paleo-diet-premise/)
This means that no other foods are allowed within the Food
Pyramid in Paleo. Not dairies, legumes, grains, and processed food as they are
catalogued as “anti nutritious”. It is determined that these products are not
helping the body to functioning as it should which means that diseases like
diabetes, some cancers and cardiovascular problems can be occurred because the
consumption of these foods.
The reason the Paleo diet has been succeeded lately is
because it follows what our body really needs by eating real food with
nutrients like Omega 3, Vitamin B2, and C and also D. These elements are essential
in our lives.
After my pregnancy, I found very difficult to lose weight.
However, after 6 months of having my baby girl, I tried the Michelle Bridges’
diet while I was breastfeeding and it worked very well. But, once I finished to
breastfeed it was very challenging to continue losing weight. After, several
months trying to find the right recipe, and almost got crazy about my weight,
and also I was having digestive issues as I got a bug in my stomach, I realised
that I need a change of my life. One night, I was checking my Facebook page, and
I read a post from a friend of mine, who was saying that she is under the Paleo
diet and felt fabulous. To make the story short, I spoke with her and asked her
about this diet. She explained that because she is having some healthy problems
with something called “Hashimoto” and also having difficulties to lose weight,
she was introduced to the Paleo Diet while she was studying. After that conversation
with my friend and little bit of research, my husband and I decided to give it
a go and try this new style.
In the meantime, I am a part of a wonderful personal coach
fitness club close to work, EFM Wakefield Club with Jesse Ey as a manager, who has helped me to build the confidence I need to lose weight, built muscle, and be more realistic about my strengths..
From May this year, I stop eating wheat,
legumes, grains, any kind of sugar (but not coconut sugar), corn, dairy
products, processed food, soft drinks or anything that contains more than 5
ingredients on the label. My hubby and I decided that it is time for a change, be healthy and think about the future that we want to offer to our daughter as a healthy girl and woman one day.
It is very easy to find practical food (junk food) everywhere, or cook rice and pasta in two minutes, but for my family is all about quality. Sometime, if you eat or your kids eat a full bowl of rice noodles or pasta, you think, "well, I am full, or my kids are fine eating that bowl", but this is not what I want for my children or myself.
If my daughter is eating a small piece of proteins, broccoli or any other veggie, I am happy.
Cooking Paleo food could be sometimes tricky and more work, but it really worth it.
his is me & my little one enjoying a wonderful green juice @ The Golden Fleece in Willunga.

Interview process
How many time have you been in an interview?. 10, 20, 30?...countless. How many times have you been success in one of those interviews?, 30, 20, 10, 1?. It is probably not that many, right?...but why?, why in the world, can you get what you want?, well, I have no idea. Every time I go to one of those rooms, with a large table, four or five black chairs, one jar of water, two or three glasses and three people waiting for you, watching every move you make..UFFF!!! I am paralyzed. I completely forget why I am here, and start asking myself, what did they know about me?. How did they know I am the best candidate... or the worst?. Well, it is a process that every candidate needs to get through if you want to get a job, or get a scholarship or anything in life if you want to get something. But one thing for sure it is most important, if you are not confident enough...(me), forget it, you will not have the results you want. I thought if I practice more before hand, I will be fine, but it occurred the opposite. Well, let's try again, if I get the confident (sometimes you have no clue of the job) I need, BINGO!!! GOT IT.
Speaking in public, it is a very difficult path, and even more if you are in the middle of a interview process with those people judging you every word you said, but we need to prove ourselves that this is only one step for 60 mins max to prove yourself ... YOU CAN!!! and LOOK...if you have this interview, is because they like you, and they want to meet you. Like a colleague said to me once: "You have the skills, you just need to show them that you are the BEST and if you don't know the answer, just said it, be honest and authentic".
Thank You

So many thoughts and no actions?
What is happening to me?. There is something that I have
learnt all my life is when I feel something that bother me, take an action. But
in this case, I have a so many feeling and thoughts that I have not done
anything about it.
Hang on, I am writing right now. Ok it is something. I was
determined to tell stories about pretty much anything that happen to me lately.
Why is it?. Well, may be it is part of my new path of career or something and
this is the action that I am taking right now.
I am sitting right now, in front of my work computer trying
to think if there is something about my job that I haven’t done yet. anything outstanding?.
I don’t think so.
However, I got something outstanding. ME!!. Yes me. Sometimes,
I feel like a crazy because my heart pumps so hard when I feel anxiety, fear or
happiness. At this stage, I feel anxiety of what’s going to happen to me and
the world the next 5 or 10 or 15 years. Opposite of what I have learnt about “plan
your future”. Well, I am still working on it. Some people might say, “Don’t be
so hard yourself”. Or “think about the present, forget the future”. So, I may
ask…HOW? How can I think about the present if I feel this anxiety now?. how can’t
I be hard myself if I feel anxiety every time I heard about sick people or
people dying for illness, car accidents, poverty, and conflicts between
countries?. Also, my family, friends, stability, jobs.
Well, this is the way it is. It is part of life having these
feelings of worry and disorientation. And I think this happens when you
are happy but you know something would get wrong and someday you would do down.
Oh my gosh, what a negative person I am. But the best part of all of these, is
that after these thoughts, you realise that you are happy, you have a beautiful
family, lovely children and a great job, and then, you say THANK YOU!!!. And if you don't have all of that, you would thanks to anything that you believe, because you are breathing right now.
THANK YOU!!!!.
